I have always believed in math and science as the language and keys of the universe. My education has taught me the universal laws that govern the behavior of the world we live in. We see these in the large events down to the small spaces between the particles we can't even see. Process control was an overwhelming area of interest in my education. I hope you enjoy my insights into how those laws marry with and affect the business environment and cash flow cycles of your practice.
Change is gradual and slow, taking place over a long period of time. Just a small change in the initial conditions can drastically change the long-term behavior of your practice. Accepting the idea that your practice is in a constant state of flux is the first step to evolving forward and competing.
Natural Selection is the process in nature by which the systems best adapted to their environments tend to survive. It remains the single primary explanation for adaptive evolution. It has been clearly agreed upon that the systems that survive in the interaction of evolution usually make themselves more complex. This theory explains the development of the competitive instinct.
Chaos Theory is defined as very great confusion or complete disorder. It is the idea that beneath the disarray that is observed by the naked eye, that actually there is an order that can be monitored and controlled over time. This requires the identification of the variables that affect your practice and the governing actions that can control these practice variables.
Entropy is the measure of chaos or degree of disorder in a system. In the behavior of large systems, such as your practice, the collective whole will always return to its most stable and comfortable formation without the application of external forces.
To Summarize, your practice is made up of many moving parts that must be diligently controlled or you and your staff will find yourselves right back in the complacency you all sought to change.
