Our Story
We assist practices with the big picture and how all the small pieces fit in place to propel a medical practice forward. Evolution Consultants is a process control-oriented medical management firm with a forensic approach. We specialize in the cash flow and statistical information often overlooked in the everyday activities of most practices.
Evolution consists of consultants with proven experience in the streamlining, growth, and development of medical practices. The consultants have a wide range of experience, from beta-test sites for electronic health records to practice start-ups and expansions. We house a selection of consultants and certified coders with a keen eye for detail. Our office conforms to HIPAA, Red Flag, and CMS Fraud Waste and Abuse guidelines as a downstream entity.
Evolution strives to assist small private practices, not only to be successful but to thrive in the ever-changing medical climate. We want to be the hands-on education that many medical practices need when starting out or transitioning.
Our Staff
Julie Lewis (Co-Owner)
Julie Lewis is a managing partner with private practice administration experience in all aspects of both specialty and primary care practice environments. She works in many areas of Evolution but enjoys the Electronic Health Records selection and implementation in addition to untangling billing, coding, and payer policies to benefit the clients. Julie's participation includes but is not limited to knowing the rules of the medical game, client onboarding, and understanding the flow of a medical practice. The first step to playing the game accurately is knowing the rules.
Misty L. Chance (Co-Owner)
Misty L. Chance is a managing partner with statistical bench-marking and cash-flow acceleration experience. Misty has a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in chemical engineering. It is to this education that she contributes her statistical fundamentals. The application of process control parameters and attention to detail have made Evolution unlike any other medical practice management firm. Misty works in oversight of cash flow for each client, client onboarding, and quality, to name a few.
Angela Schaefer, BS, CMC (Chief Operating Officer)
Angela has been with Evolution since 2006 and has worked with the firm to implement multiple specialties, software, and structures in a variety of office environments. She loves working with people, building teams that thrive as they work together with each individual’s strengths. She has an astute attention to detail that makes her unrivaled in her training ability and process development. Angela has a B.S. in Bioenvironmental Sciences from Texas A&M University and is a Certified Medical Coder.
Angela enjoys spending quality time with her family, being involved in her children’s sports and school activities, and having joyful moments with relatives including her nieces and nephews.
Mary Terrill, BS (Chief Credentialing Officer)
Mary earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in College Station. She has over 10 years of experience in medical credentialing, consulting, contract negotiations, and project management. Mary’s passion for credentialing is inspired by the reward of watching our client practices grow from the ground up into successful businesses and knowing that her team has made a difference in people’s lives and provided excellent services to all our clients. Her role includes coordinating the credentialing/contracting projects, payor investigations, and start-up credentialing for practices. Mary has been with Evolution since 2013 and accentuates the team with her willingness to serve the client’s needs.
Mary has a big heart that extends freely to others, pets, volunteer organizations, and her family. She enjoys painting, gardening, and hiking with her two dogs.
Kristina Hudson, BS (Practice Management Consultant & Director of Marketing)
Kristina Hudson is part of the Evolution Practice Management Team and the Director of the Marketing department. She has a BS in Healthcare Management and Administration from the University of Central Florida. Kristina comes to the team with 15 years of practice administration experience as well as marketing experience in growing medical practices. Her background in banking is a tool that has made her a savvy administrator for practices whether they are just starting or trying to take their practice to the next level. Her desire to see the practices grow with strong processes and market development leads her to go above and beyond for our clients.
Kristina enjoys spending time with her daughter, actively supporting her volleyball career, and cherishing the thrills and triumphs of every game. Outside of work, you'll often find her immersed in family activities and nurturing her creativity, making every moment count.
Kassandra Preston (PCP Division Manager)
Kassandra has been a valued member of the Evolution Consultants family since 2020, where she contributes significantly to our team as a billing associate. With her innate attention to detail and commitment to excellence, she diligently works with primary care clinics, managing charges, posting payments, rectifying claims, and providing insightful Accounts Receivable (AR) reports. Kassandra's expertise ensures smooth billing operations, thereby fostering an efficient revenue cycle for our clients.
Kassandra's background is further enriched by her degree in Psychology, a field of study that equips her with valuable skills in understanding human behavior, communication, and problem-solving. This unique blend of academic achievement and professional experience gives her a holistic approach to her work, enabling her to navigate the complexities of medical billing with an empathetic and patient-focused lens.
Jessica Moreno (Resolution & Support Specialist)
Jessy joined Evolution Consultants in 2020 and has since embraced cross-training across multiple software platforms, departments, and clients. She excels in problem-solving, providing support, and helping others find effective solutions. With a passion for continuous learning, she is always looking for ways to expand her skills and grow both personally and professionally.
Outside of work, Jessy enjoys reading, writing, painting, drawing, and listening to music. She also pursues part-time illustration and loves spending quality time with her family and her four beloved cats.
Christine Kovalcik, BS, CMC (Orthopedic Division Manager)
Christine has a Bachelor of Business of Administration (BA) in Finance from Texas Tech University and has been with Evolution Consultants since 2015 as one of our talented certified medical coders. She has a passion for CPT research and coding guidelines scrubbing charges, deciphering chart documentation for CPT support, and is responsible for investigating unique situations that require payor research. Christine enjoys advising the team on how to resolve claim denial issues by custom appeal letter drafting and/or researching insurance medical policy guidelines. She oversees charges training to ensure clean claims are submitted appropriately as well as overseeing various training, protocols, and department workflows. Her favorite part of management is working with the team to build them up and watching the billers grow.
Christine is levelheaded and methodical in her approach to her team and clients. She is married with two children and enjoys baking and spending time with her family.
Jennifer King (Billing Quality Assurance Consultant)
Jennifer has been with Evolution Consultants since 2010, following her graduation from the medical billing program at Everest Institute. She has since become one of our talented billing managers, focusing on the uniformity of processes, training, and billing performance across all our billing divisions. Each day, she thrives on coordinating with the team, distributing responsibilities, encouraging growth in all billing departments, and relentlessly striving to outdo her previous day's achievements.
Jennifer's vibrant energy and commitment to accuracy and efficiency, coupled with her performance-oriented mindset, underscore her robust work ethic and unwavering dedication to personal and professional growth.
Ravin Roberts (Resolution & Support Specialist)
Ravin thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments where problem-solving and attention to detail are key. With a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration and an Associate’s in Science, she brings a strong foundation in research, analysis, and critical thinking to her role.
As a mom of three girls, Ravin balances her professional drive with an adventurous spirit.

JoElla Benardis, CCS, AAS, HIT, BS, HIM (Compliance & Project Specialist)
JoElla is a Certified Coding Specialist through AHIMA and a valuable team member at Evolution Consultants LLC, where she has been contributing since 2023. With a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from DeVry University and an Associate of Science in Health Information Technology, she brings a strong foundation of education and expertise to her role. Passionate about the compliance side of the business, as well as EHRs and the technical aspects of her job, she is dedicated to ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards. She is committed to continuous learning and contributing to the company's success.
Jeanie Stein (Credentialing and Project Specialist)
Jeanie Stein is thriving in her second career in Credentialing after spending 26 years as an elementary school teacher. Her background in education has given her a keen eye for detail, organization, and problem-solving—skills that seamlessly translate into her work at Evolution Consultants.
Outside of work, Jeanie enjoys gardening, spending time with her two grandkids, and doting on her four dogs. She also has a passion for travel and, alongside her husband, has explored 27 states and 13 countries—and counting! Jeanie’s dedication, experience, and love for learning make her a valuable part of the Evolution team.
Kelly Sells (Marketing and Project Specialist)
Kelly joined Evolution Consultants in 2022, bringing her passion for marketing and graphic design to the team. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and has a deep-rooted background in graphic design.
As a key member of Evolution’s marketing department, Kelly provides creative and strategic marketing services to our diverse range of clients. From branding and design to digital marketing initiatives, she uses her expertise to help businesses stand out and succeed.
A mother of four, Kelly is no stranger to hard work and perseverance. A former competitive swimmer turned triathlete; she has pushed her limits to become a three-time Ironman finisher. Her dedication, creativity, and drive make her an invaluable part of the Evolution team.
